Visit Grassington Dickensian Festival
TRAVEL AND PARKING
As the centre of Grassington is pedestrianised during the Festival, we operate a Park & Ride system for your convenience and safety. This is based a mile from the centre of the Village and is well sign posted from every incoming road with bright yellow signs.
The Park & Ride is £10.00 per car, not a per person price, so why not fill your car and invite some friends.
Our comfortable coaches will transport you from the car park to the centre of the Village and regular return services are available from outside Grassington Medical Centre, which is clearly sign posted.
We are ideally located just 1.5 hours from Manchester, 1.25 hours from York, 1 hour from Leeds and 1 hour from the A1 and M1.
You can find directions to Grassington on Google Maps by clicking here.
The postcode for the Park and Ride is BD23 5NX
The closest station to Grassington is Skipton Train Station and you can get a bus from here up to the Village.
A number of Coach Tour Operators plan trips to the Grassington Dickensian Festival every year and these can be booked direct with the Coach Tour Company.
Information on bus services running to Grassington during the Dickensian Festival can be found at the Dales Bus Website. Click Here to Visit the Dales Bus Website
There are toilets in the Grassington National Park Centre, one outside the Medical centre for those waiting for return coaches and several in the Park and ride car park. There are of course also facilities in the local eateries in the village.
This is located as you first enter the square and is clearly sign posted. Please come here for any information you require.
Our team of first aiders are based at the Grassington Hub, located on the map in the programme, but they can also be contacted by any volunteer wearing high visibility jackets.
FOOD & DRINK
The village boasts a number of highly recommended cafes, pubs and restaurants with cosy fires, hot and cold beverages and home-made food.
For those looking for a snack while you wander the cobbled streets and take in the Dickensian sights, there are also an abundance of street stalls offering a variety of tasty treats.
CHOOSE YOUR TIME
We are holding a full Christmas market and Victorian entertainment on both Saturday & Sunday for the first two weekends in December, as well as boasting a full programme of events and activities during the week.
The full programme will be confirmed in the coming months but both weekends will offer a full entertainment programme running throughout the day, an abundance of stalls with a range of gifts, treats and food goodies, live music, Santa’s Grotto, a torchlight parade & Christmas Carols in the square with a Brass Band.
Enjoy the vibrant and bustling surroundings on our popular Saturdays or take advantage of the relaxed atmosphere on our Sundays, browse the stalls & local shops at your leisure.
The weather plays a big part in Christmas events so make sure you are dressed comfortably. Layers are best as the market and entertainment is outdoors. Grassington is a picturesque, old village and some streets can be hilly and cobbled winter appropriate, flat shoes/boots are recommended.
There is so much to see and do at the Grassington Dickensian Festival and surrounding areas you will struggle to fit in everything in one day. Why not make a weekend or even a week of it and stay at one of our lovely hotels, quaint B&B’s or a tucked away country cottage. We are lucky enough to be in the middle of the beautiful countryside so maybe plan a scenic walk and sight see of the local area while you are here.
